Trying to summarize what it means to be a vampire in thirteen songs would be like trying to summarize Shakespeare in thirteen paragraphs. Oh, one could probably do it, and I daresay the result would be fairly amusing...but something would be lost in the process. No, this disc is not about vampires.
What you're seeing is a selection of some of the more popular songs from my current place of employment, The Succubus Club. And why have you never heard these popular songs, you ask? Well, my dear, you’d hardly be allowed into The Succubus Club dressed like that. The artists were... persuaded...to let us keep these tracks under wraps for the exclusive entertainment of our patrons...until now.
As a DJ, I’ve noticed that each of these songs seems to strike a chord with a particular clan. In some cases it’s been obvious; it’s not difficult to see why a Ravnos would be attracted to Deception, a tune with a violin solo and a chorus of "Pray for an end to our deception." It took a bit longer for me to understand the Ventrue’s affinity for Cold From Fever, with its dual questions: "What about how I feel? How could you know?" As one dance-weary CEO said simply after the song ended: "It’s lonely at the top."
The thirteen artists herein come from around the world and represent a broad range of musical styles. I encourage you to seek out more of their work, the rest of which is much more readily available to the general public. Consider this disc a guest pass of sorts to the musical mysteries of The Succubus Club. But don’t take that too literally...our bouncers are not known for their sense of humor...and you’d still never get in dressed like that.
