According to Variety, Tim Burton is set to direct a new Disney interpretation of Alice in Wonderland.
It will be a mix of live action and motion-capture CG, like Beowulf and Polar Express. I wonder if that means we’ll get to see Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter? Either way, this has the potential to be creepy and awfully cool. Marilyn Manson’s probably going to have a fit if he doesn’t get a part, maybe as the caterpillar?
Also mentioned (and possibly even more fun), after he wraps on Alice, Burton will be moving forward on Frankenweenie, based on the 1984 short film he did for Disney, about a boy and his dog… and the resurrection thereof. Of course, he needs to get Sweeney Todd out the door first. I can’t wait!

Here’s hoping he tops the amazing America Mc Gee’s reinterpretation of Alice in Wonderland.

I never did get to play that game. I look forward to the movie adaptation, though.
